Standard components mix with custom manufacturing

Rencol preview edit_tmbFounded in 1923, Rencol Components has a tradition of manufacturing standard components. At this year’s show, the company showcased its growing range of plastic and metal knobs, handles, hand wheels, clamping handles, levers, index plungers and levelling feet. Also on show was an expanded range of positioning hinges, lift-off removable hinges and stainless steel toggle latches.

Three new positioning hinges complement the Model 01 HI adjustable torque positioning hinge. They feature either a constant torque or detents for applications where doors must be held open at any angle.

Five new removable lift-off hinges for cabinet construction give quick, easy door removal for aerospace, catering, construction equipment, computer/IT, exhibition, industrial machinery and tools, marine, medical, railway and telecomms applications.

Stainless steel toggle latches secure enclosures, cases and cabinets, several have a locking or spring mechanism.

Rencol Manufacturing, the custom manufacturing division of the Rencol Group, were also on hand at the show. Services are driven by British engineering expertise, produced by trusted Chinese partners, and delivered via a global supply chain. The division works with a range of processes, from plastic injection moulding to die casting and CNC machining. Teams in the UK, US and China provide intelligent support throughout a project, from optimising design concepts to prototyping, tooling, mass production and logistics.

Shaping quality steel

Meusberger_tmbF-Plates are ideal for making mould bases says Meusburger Georg. They are supplied with pillar and screw holes and available immediately from stock. They are offered in a range of 27 materials, examples of which are on the firm’s stand at Southern 2018.

The company heat treats all steel plates for stress relief in one of its three furnaces for 24 hours to create the best conditions for low-deformation processing of parts.

The systematically co-ordinated standard hole pattern provides a continuous system from the smallest through to the biggest mould base. Cooling channels can be inserted between the guiding hole and the screw holes of any size of mould. The distance to the edge remains the same for each guiding diameter.

Lever slots are provided on all moulding plates with a pillar diameter larger than of 20mm. The recessed edges facilitate the manual opening of the mould in the split line face and the removal of moulding plates. For quick and easy alignment, the moulding plates have an alignment edge parallel to the guiding holes.

The mounting thread is provided in each of the F70 risers of the mould base. The clamping plate can be removed with the risers when disassembling the mould for access to the ejector set during a revision.

Learn 3D CAD trends with Ansys SpaceClaim

AnsysSpaceClaim-preview edit_tmbLearn about the latest trends in 3D CAD software at the Ansys SpaceClaim stand. Visitors can also see engineering simulation tools that provide instant feedback on performance of any design.

While 3D CAD continues to become more accessible to all, simulation tools that provide insight to a design’s performance have historically struggled with adoption. Now, Ansys has coupled the power of SpaceClaim’s rapid geometry creation, editing, and repair with a simulation tool that gives instant answers. The tool lets an engineer explore an open design space, ask ‘what if’ questions, and test several design iterations in near real-time. Imagine being able to make a geometry change to a CAD file, and instantly knowing the resulting change in performance? The Discovery Live technology makes this possible. It takes advantage of the latest GPU technology to make engineering simulation instant.

Learn about the technology, customer success stories and see the product in action.
