Microscope has intuitive software interface

Ash Tech preview edit_tmbAn integrated digital microscope system designed specifically for production and quality control environments will be showcased at Southern 2019 by Ash Technologies. The Inspex II has an intuitive software interface which simplifies operation and control of the system, increasing efficiency, control and traceability of inspection, says the company.

The ergonomic, fully integrated, standalone system does not require a PC. The AshCal auto-calibration feature removes the need for time-consuming recalibrations for each zoom change. 2D point-to-point precision line measurements and annotations can be captured on images for qualification and documentation whilst on-screen overlays enable the go/no-go rapid inspection of samples. Users can streamline the production processes and prevent human error with user access privileges and programmable preset options for controlled and standardised inspection processes.

The Inspex II also has interchangeable illumination options and a one-click autofocus on-screen indicator. Image stamping with time, date, user and magnification level allows for traceability throughout the inspection process.

Irish company, Ash Technologies was established in 1994, specialising in digital magnification and imaging solutions. Its inspection solutions can improve production process quality and fault detection, improve cost efficiencies, increase operator performance and productivity and aid training, claims the company.

Southern Manufacturing 2019 expands in size and scope

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics, the UK’s largest annual engineering show, returns to Farnborough from February 5th to 7th 2019. The move to a new permanent venue last year proved a resounding success with both visitors and exhibitors, prompting a surge in stand bookings for the 2019 show. The organisers are forecasting a 20% increase in exhibitors for 2019, which will bring the show to its maximum capacity.

Along with a record number of exhibitors expected, the show has formalised links with several influential industry organisations, including Composites UK, the Confederation of British Metalforming, Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, The British Gear Association, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the Gauge and Toolmakers Association. The partnerships will enable the roll-out of new show features and access to authoritative technical expertise via the show’s comprehensive free technical seminar programme, open to all visitors. Some of the new areas to be addressed as part of the 2019 programme include a look at incremental sheet forming processes, automated mould design and large scale 3D printing.

Visitors to Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 will recognise many regular exhibitors, among them Bystronic UK, C. Dugard, Matsuura and YMT Technologies, plus some notable returnees to the show. Citizen Machinery UK will exhibit for the first time since 2007, joined by other major former exhibitors such as Mitutoyo (UK), SCHMIDT Technology, Rapid Electronics and LNS Turbo amongst others. New exhibitors for 2019 include Instrutec Controls, Oemeta UK and Polydist UK. The 2019 event has also seen a remarkable 26% increase in non UK-based exhibitors, giving visitors the chance to meet a truly international selection of suppliers.

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 opens from February 5th to 7th. Admission to the show is free. More information and tickets are available from www.industrysouth.co.uk. Farnborough Exhibition and Conference Centre offers free on-site car parking and is easily reached by road, air or public transport.

Papers invited for EcoComp 2019

NetComposites Ltd, the organiser of EcoComp 2019, has issued a call for papers. Ecocomp 2019, which takes place at the Coombe Abbey Hotel, Coventry UK on 19-20 June 2019, will focus on composite materials derived from sustainable sources.

EcoComp

Ecological awareness has stimulated an increased interest in sustainable materials, and issues such as recyclability and environmental responsibility are becoming ever more important for the introduction of new composite materials and products. Environmental legislation and consumer demand are increasing the pressure on manufacturers and end-products to consider the impact of their products at all stages of their life cycle. These issues continue to generate considerable interest in the development of composite materials based on renewable resources, with environmentally friendly and affordable alternatives for conventional fibres and polymers enabling the development of true bio composites.

Prospective authors are invited to submit a 250-word abstract addressing topics such as:
– Natural fibre reinforcements
– Recycled fibre reinforcements
– Wood fibre composites
– Bio-derived resins
– Biodegradable composites
– Eco-design
– Durability and testing
– Life cycle studies
– Recycling of composites
– Case study applications

The deadline for abstracts is the 5th of November 2018, and all successful authors will be notified by November 30th.

For more information and full instructions on how to submit an abstract, visit the EcoComp 2019 website at  https://ecocomp-conference.com/call-for-papers/
